1 down, 55 to go

Last week, I lost one pound! It just goes to show that if I eat mindfully and count my points, all comes into place.

Weigh-in on 9/8/2008: 181
Weigh-in on 9/15/2009: 180
Poundage lost: 1 pound
Lost far: 1 pound!

Archery Academy happens this weekend and I am running it. I am freaking out and stress eating. So, the only course of action in this time of desperation is bribery. When I get out of the 180's, I buy myself the new Weezer CD. I really want the new Weezer CD, so this has been a good incentive to lose one pound more and out of the 180's.

It's a start; I will take it!

Contemplating Vegetables

Another problem with my weight loss is just the types of foods I happen to eat. I love bread, red meat, and potatoes. I love starch, including corn. If I hear "eat your veggies" one more time, the source is going to get throttled.

However, I also know that eating vegetables is a large part of weight loss. I have myself somewhat convinced that I hate vegetables, and thus, I never eat them. But that is not quite true.

So, we're making lists today! It will just be a reminder of what I do like to eat veggie-wise.

My Favorite Vegetables

1. Carrots
2. Cucumbers (Especially lemon cucumbers grown fresh in our garden. Yum!)
3. Tomatoes
4. Lettuce/greens (I love my greens . . .salads are the best!)
5. Leeks
6. Fennel
7. Corn (Yes, it's a starch but it is also a vegetable!)
8. Peas
9. Garlic
10. Asparagus
11. Artichokes

Things I can't Touch

1. Peppers--all types (unless I want to be in the bathroom all night)
2. Onions (can't stand the texture)
3. Over-cooked squash (Yuck!)

Things I Have Not Tried, but Want To

1. Eggplant (heard it is delicious; I should learn how to cook it)
2. Spaghetti squash

Finally, Things I Like Under Limited Circumstances

1. Squash (grilled only--can't stand it steamed)
2. Spinach (fresh only)

Great reminder for myself: I actually like more than I think I do. Now, I am going to have toast and an apple and get ready for my chiropractic appointment. Think spinach greens and cucumbers with balsamic vinegar would make a good lunch? :)

Me at 117

Just for comparison sake, here is a picture of me at 117 pounds. Wasn't I just the hottest thing evar? :)

Welcome to my Weight Loss Blog!

So, it has come to this.

I have had it with this extra weight. In order to help me remain committed, I am making my weight loss journey public. If I have enough people watching, I will stay on track.

So, we will begin with the obvious. This is me. I am 5'2" and I weigh 181 pounds. A mere four years ago, I weighed about 117. How did I get this way? Overeating. Stress eating. Bi-polar meds. Just plain not paying attention.
I am on a medication that increases my appetite, as in I feel hungry even when I am full. The first step will be to learn how to tell the difference between medication-induced hunger and real hunger. I mostly know the difference by now; if I feel full, I don't eat. I chew gum. In fact, I chew so much damn gum that my jaw hurts some days. But I do what I need to do.
The second step? Follow through with my plans. That is what this blog is for.
So, thus we have the beginning. With that, here are some stats:
Weight: 181
Goal Weight: 125
Method Chosen: Weight Watchers
Chest: 44"
Waist: 40"
Hips: 43.5"
Right Upper Thigh: 25.5"
Weigh-ins are every Monday. Measurements will be taken once a month. Just watch me shrink!
